إذا شرع بول كواتالين في ترجمة هذا الدليل الأساسي ، فذلك يرجع أساسًا إلى اقتناعه بأن إحدى الصعوبات الرئيسية في تعلم اللغة العربية ترجع إلى مجموعة من الاختلافات الثقافية بين جنوب وشمال البحر الأبيض المتوسط. هناك العديد من القواعد النحوية للغة العربية في اللغات الأوروبية ، للأسف معظمها لا يريد - أو لا يستطيع - التخلي عن الفئات الموروثة من قواعد النحو اللاتينية واليونانية التي تكاد تكون متكافئة معنا مثل حروف الأبجدية. أو الأرقام (تشفير عميق) لأنه مبكرًا).
