A brief compendium of the good manners of the bearers of the Quran, those who memorize it and those who study it. Allah ﷻ has indeed made sincerity towards His Book obligatory, and one of the expressions of this sincerity towards Him is expounding the good manners of its bearers and students, directing them towards them and emphasize their importance.
In the introduction to his book At-Tibyān , Imam an-Nawawī (636 - 676 H.) writes:
“Groups of eminent and distinguished men have composed, on the subject of the merit of reciting the Qur'an, books known to those who are endowed with intelligence and indulgence. But the efforts to memorize them, or even to read them, having diminished, there are only a few gifted individuals who benefit from them. I have however noticed that the inhabitants of our city of Damascus - May Allah the Most High protect and safeguard it and all Muslim countries - take great care in the recitation of the Glorious Quran, whether it is to learn or teach it, for exhibition or study purposes, in groups or individually. They apply themselves diligently night and day - May Allah the Most High increase their desire for this and for all kinds of acts of obedience - seeking, by these acts, the Face of the Holder of Majesty and Generosity.
This therefore prompted me to form a brief compendium on the good manners of the bearers of the Quran, those who memorize it and those who study it. Allah ﷻ has indeed made sincerity towards His Book obligatory, and one of the expressions of this sincerity towards Him is expounding the good manners of its bearers and students, directing them towards them and emphasize their importance. »
