Chronicles of the Regency of Algiers
Author: Muhammad Ibn Muhammad Al-Tilimsânî - Translated from an Arabic manuscript entitled al-Zahra al-Nayyira by: Alphonse Rousseau - Publisher: Héritage
The history of Algeria is overflowing with events, and the Regency of Algiers is a fundamental stage. It begins with the arrival, at the request of the people, of the Barbarossa brothers to defend them against Spanish attacks and will end with the colonization of Algeria by the French.
Algiers had to face multiple invasion attempts, and this work recounts several of them. Furthermore, it concludes with an essential chronology of the Pashas of Algiers, highlighting some significant facts from the history of the Regency.
Richly annotated by the translator, Alphonse Rousseau, who was, in the 19th century, consul of France and the first interpreter of the French consulate general in Tunis, this work will enable the reader to become acquainted with the fascinating history of the Regency of Algiers.
