The conditions of rebirth, by Malek Bennabi, Collection Malek Bennabi
“God changes nothing in the state of a people until they have first changed what they have in themselves”. (Koran 13/22) It is from this verse that Malek Bennabi casts his exacting gaze on the current Muslim world.
The world has always known only cyclical phases that have allowed civilizations to be born, to develop, then to decline to sink into the meanders of history. Muslim civilization has not escaped this rule. Yet, says Bennabi , this civilization had more than any other the possibility of enduring over time and marking history more durably, since it contains in its matrix spiritual sources linked to pure monotheism and the jewel of prophecy. .
In order to understand the reasons for this failure, Bennabi endeavors in Les conditions de la Ranaissance to analyze what makes up any civilisation.
By making a demanding criticism and analysis, Bennabi thus makes it possible to understand the nature of the evil which precipitated the failure of Muslim civilization, while tracing the lines of a possible start, on the basis of the very sources of Islam. original.
