The History of the Muslim World - From the Rightly Guided Caliphs to the Fall of the Ottomans, by Amīn Al-Qaḍā, Translated by Soumaya Elarafa-Assali
The Muslim world as we know it today was primarily shaped by the four Rightly Guided Caliphs. The work of the Umayyads, the Abbasids and others after them is a continuation of what the Companions of the Prophet Muḥammad ( saw ) had undertaken: the propagation of the divine message. Thus, the Muslim world grew and many peoples embraced Islam. In addition, a remarkable and brilliant Islamic civilization has emerged. Some of us take great pride in this era and its exploits; others, on the other hand, accuse our predecessors of decline and imperfection.
The enemies of Muslims very quickly understood the role that history could play in the attitude of Muslims: depending on the way it was presented, it was possible to arouse in Muslims an attachment to their history or , on the contrary, its rejection. Therefore, they chose to present only those elements of Muslim history that best served their interests and corresponded most to their vision.
It is therefore necessary to offer an impartial study of Muslim history. History and reference books are very numerous and disparate. We considered it important to list these works in order to allow readers to understand this subject without being influenced by the Western, materialistic and secular vision. We have therefore gathered useful information from these reference books and organized it in a coherent way, hoping to provide a relevant and neutral summary of our history.
