Among the works of al-Ghazali Mizan al-'amal (Criterion of Action) occupies a very special place in the philosophy and thought of this great scholar-theologian. It is a master work of Arabic philosophy which was widely studied by European philosophers, for al-Ghazali's influence was not limited to the Islamic world but had a profound impact on Christian European thought of the Middle Ages. Age, and the beginning of the modern era, as on Dante, Saint Thomas Aquinas and Pascal. The influence of this scholar on thought remains intact today. Criterion of Action is notable for its exposition of the notion of “Bliss” which can only be achieved through “knowledge” and “action”. It is about reforming the human being and purifying it through the education of the mind and body. In more modern terms it would be psychology, morality, ethics, education and learning. Al-Ghazali excels in these demonstrations supported by examples and develops universal principles that can be applied today to improve both spiritually and in relation to one's role in society.
