"This work takes its place among the publications that appeared on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of independence. Through the reminder of the expression of a thought or the conduct of an action, it has no other ambition than to be a testimony, in its own way, on some aspects of the Algerian Revolution during the decade that has just passed; it would like to be, at the same time, an invitation to reflect on subjects of major importance and lasting interest. [...] it seemed useful, if only to respond to many requests, to gather these extracts and to publish them, after having classified them, not according to chronological order, but according to themes.

Ultimately, it is a matter of a small number of major themes: cultural decolonization; the renaissance of the Muslim world in general and the Maghreb in particular; education, science and culture; the return of the Arabic language to its role as a national language and, to put it simply, this “cultural revolution” which, for us, is inseparable from the battle for the consolidation of national independence and economic and social development.
