For anyone who wants to understand Islam, knowledge of the Muslim faith is an imperative that cannot be dismissed. An imperative that seems to defy human unconsciousness by reminding it that the essential questions – even in a state-of-the-art civilization with advanced technologies – remain to know “where we come from, why we walk, and where we are going”. There is, beyond things, something, beyond time, an eternity... The supreme ignorance remains for the human being to stick to appearances, to let himself be carried away carelessly by the the current which carries him along, to plunge into an unconscious sleep from which death quickly rouses him.
