"This is the belief of Imam Abū Ja`far Aḥmad aṭ-Ṭaḥāwī (d. 321 H.), in which he mentions the whole of the beliefs of the pious predecessors, and of those who followed them among the members of the People of the Sunna and the Group, notably the Imams of the Hanafi school of jurisprudence, of which Imam Aṭ-Ṭaḥāwī was a follower. He showed his objective in the introduction, saying:

"This is a statement of the belief of the People of the Sunna and the Group according to the opinion of the jurists of this religion: Abū Ḥanīfah An-Nu`mān ibn Thābit al-Kūfī, Abū Yūsuf Ya`qūb ibn Ibrāhīm al-Anṣārī and Abū `Abdillāh Muḥammad ibn Al-Hasan ash-Shaybānī and the foundations of the religion in which they believed and by which they sought the approval of the Lord of the worlds. »

Then he moved on to mentioning the foundations of these beliefs, mentioning 105 sentences covering what Sunnah People and the Group generally believe. He started with the clarification of the Oneness of Allah Most High, mentioning part of the Attributes of His Lordship, exalted be He, such as Life, the fact that He subsists by Himself and makes others subsist, creation, sustenance, affirming the Attributes of perfection, without seeking the how, nor anthropomorphism, Then he moved on to mentioning the obligatory nature of faith in the prophecy of Muḥammad, may Allah's praises and His greetings be upon him, and that he was sent to all mankind. Then he explained the fact that the noble Qur'an is the uncreated Word of Allah, the affirmation of the vision of Allah by the believers in the hereafter, then certain matters of the invisible in which the People of the Sunna, such as the basin, the intercession, the Throne and the Footstool, After that he mentioned one of the pillars of faith, namely faith in decree and destiny, and what the People of the Sunnah and the Group about it.

Then he moved on to defining the faith and clarifying its pillars and its waxing and waning, clarifying the path of the People of the Sunnah between that of the khawārij and the murji'ah, just as he showed this to what do the People of the Sunna believe about the noble Companions, may Allah be pleased with them. Then he moved on to some signs of the Hour and what will happen on the Day of Resurrection. Finally, he concludes his epistle by clarifying the balanced nature of this religion, and that it is in the middle between exaggeration and neglect.
