This book presents, by compiling and simplifying them, the legal opinions relating to the Z akat, formulated by the scholars of Islam, both ancient and modern. Given the divergence of these legal opinions, we have based our choices on the following principles: Retain in priority the collective Fatwâs enacted by the various councils of Fatwâs; opt for Fatwas simplifying the practice of Zakat ; take the Fatwas most suited to the Western context.

This book deals only with the subject that concerns the majority of Muslims in France, namely the Z akat on salaries and profits generated by the exercise of the liberal professions (lawyers, doctors, traders, craftsmen, etc.)

The author identifies three major themes which are:
