Introduction to the foundations of exegesis according to Ibn Taymiyya:

Like any science, the exegesis of the Koran has its fundamental rules. The scholar Ibn Taymiyya was able to explain them clearly to us in a few pages in a simple style, whereas for that, it would normally take several volumes.

Ibn Taymiyya's text and the annotations that we have made to it, constitute a wealth of information necessary for all those who wish to quench their thirst for knowledge.

The author clearly exposes this exegesis to us in seven chapters, which are as follows:

• Chapter 1: The Prophet clearly expounded the meanings of the Quran to the Companions.
• Chapter 2: The divergence of the salafs, on the exegesis of the Quran, is a branching divergence.
• Chapter 3: Concerning the two kinds of divergences on exegesis, based on tradition (naql) and on ways of argumentation (istidlâl).
• Chapter 4: On the exegesis of the Koran with the sayings of the Tâbi'ûn.
• Chapter 5: On the exegesis of the Quran with personal opinion.
• Chapter 6: On the exegeses closest to the Koran and the Sunna.
• Chapter 7: The Compilation of Seven Readings.
