Fatwa on terrorism and suicide attacks, by Dr Mohammed Tahir-ul-Qadri, Translated by Patrick Hutchinson, Revised and corrected by Corentin Pabiot
The man of the people will tell you with his natural good sense: “A Muslim cannot commit such crimes. Terrorizing others, making them live under threat, is an injustice that religion cannot tolerate, legitimize. As for the educated person, he will surely remind you of the verse of the Koran: "He who has killed a man who himself has not killed, or who has not committed violence on earth, is considered to be he had killed all men” ( S/5 , V/32 ) , and will rightly explain to you that the texts of Islâm make sacred the blood and the property of every man who aspires to peace and renounces violence . This innate feeling and this evidence should be sufficient to repress and denounce the illegitimate violence and collective fear engendered by terrorism.
Only today the situation has changed, it has worsened considerably, and common sense and the weight of the texts are no longer enough to stem the flood of hatred that is now pouring over the world. Because the promoters of violence are now committed to supporting their opinions and settling their ideological dispute by means of arms. Moreover, this heresy, more and more invasive, risks leading to a veritable poisoning of the public mentality. It was therefore absolutely necessary to deal with it otherwise than if it were only a bewilderment of a few isolated individuals without influence.
As such, the book by Dr. Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri on terrorism and suicide bombings is a rigorous, lucid and clear study of the question. It constitutes a formal indictment against religious sectarianism in Islām and against its disastrous consequences, particularly at the political and community level. Sectarianism is explained in detail, analyzed in its origins, in its structures and in its implications, in order to better understand it, and, if necessary, better fight it. The verdict is final, and this is the result of this study, and why it is rightly called a "fatwa": it is the duty of the legitimate Muslim authorities to fight terrorism by all legal means. available to them, including through the use of arms.
