Relevant orator and prolific lecturer, Murad Hofmann was a brilliant diplomat for three decades, Director of Information at NATO, ending his career as Ambassador of Germany. But beyond his rich diplomatic career, Murad Hofmann has above all been an extraordinary "Ambassador of Islam" since his conversion in 1980. His contribution to the understanding and transmission of the universal message of Islam has represented an immense enrichment to the intellectual debate in Europe.

Unanimously respected, this great figure of European Islam possessed an encyclopaedic knowledge associated with a simple, deep and unshakable faith. He never missed an opportunity to explain to his European interlocutors the limpid spirituality of Islam, demonstrating that this religion represents, as a civilization, a summit of the intellectual and moral achievement of humanity. Author of numerous books, each as relevant as the other, Murad Wilfried Hofmann will die in the first days of January 2020, at the age of 88.
