The Darûrî, which we translate as The Essentials of Religious Knowledge, is a work written in the 14th century by the Andalusian imam, Ibn Juzay, formerly imam of the Great Mosque of Granada. This unique book aims to bring together the religious knowledge essential to every Muslim in matters of belief, religious practices, diet, financial transactions, and other themes, all according to the school of Imam Mâlik. The reader will benefit from the Arabic text and its unpublished annotated translation in French, as well as two additional sections: a summary on the life and person of the Prophet of Islam and a section on the place and fields of knowledge in Islam, both taken from the Qawânîn belonging to the same author.
