Why do scholars differ? - according to Ibn-tayymiya:

Divergence among Muslim scholars is a phenomenon often misunderstood by believers. Thus, for some, any discrepancy is acceptable and in no way blameworthy. Others adopt an opposite attitude and reject all forms of divergence, whether doctrinal, jurisprudential or otherwise.

Ibn Taymiyya as usual, seeks the happy medium by focusing on this delicate theme. It makes us understand why scholars have diverged and why they have come to different conclusions about the same subject. It exposes the methodological and contextual reasons that led scientists to disagree.

This epistle allows us to understand in greater depth the reasons and origins of the differences. We understand that scholars are above all human beings and that it is normal for them to diverge. Our respect for them increases, because understanding their differences is also becoming aware of the efforts they have made in their quest for the truth .
