The most beautiful accounts of the scholars of the Sunnah . This title may seem subjective and simplistic, so many are the scholars who have illuminated the history of the Muslim world and who, through their love of Allah ( 'Azza wa Jallla ) and His Prophet (saw) , their efforts, their books, their asceticism and so many other things, touched the hearts and marked the minds of believers. However, some stories, by their religious interest, their emotional charge and their beauty, are imposed on us as evidence.

Thus, it was inconceivable for us to miss the ordeal of Imam Ahmad, the debate that Ibn Taymiyyah had with the rifâciyyah Sufis or more generally the stories of these great ascetics that were Ibn Al-Mubarâk and Caliph 'Umar Ibn cAbd Al-'Azîz . We cannot come out unscathed from such a reading as the science, the renunciation of this lower world and the adoration of these luminaries were extraordinary. Nevertheless, as it is true that their generosity, their patience and their wisdom seem inaccessible and send us back to our shortcomings, it is undeniable that after the best of men (saw) and his Companions (radiya allahu 'anhum) , we must take as an example these scholars and meditate on their deeds and their words, in order to become better with the help of Allah ( 'Azza wa Jallla ) , for such was our intention in writing this book.
