The Hanafi school

The Hanafi school : Founded by Imam Abu Hanifa (80-150 H), this school was born in Koûfa, from the teaching of the companions Ali Ibn Abi Talib and Abd Allah Ibn Mas'ud. Abu Hanifa is one of the great Persian scholars announced by the Prophet (peace be upon him) in the hadith. It was his famous students (Abu Yusuf and Muhammad Ibn Al Hassan) who would propagate the school. What makes this school special is the relevant use of analogical reasoning (Al Qiyas) to deal with new legal problems. The reference books of the school are: Al Mabsut, Al Jami' As-Sarigh, Al Jami' Al Kabir, Az-Ziyadaat, As-Siyaar As-Sarigh, Al Amali… The school is widespread today in Turkey (and more generally in the former territories of the Ottoman Empire), Afghanistan, Syria, in the Indian subcontinent (Pakistan, India, Bangladesh), in Russia and China.
