Sunni Sufism - Living Heart of Islam ( Through the Teachings of Hujjatu l-Islâm Al-Ghazâlî ) , prepared by Abdellah as-Saber

The famous " hadîth Jibrîl " speaks of three levels in the Muslim religion: al-Islâm, al-Îmân, and al-Ihsân.

The Islamic science that frames and forms the practice of al-Islâm is Fiqh (the Law, the five pillars, the law , etc.) . The Islamic science which frames and teaches the realization of al-Ihsân is Tawhid (Faith, 'aqida ,...) and the Islamic science which frames and initiates the acquisition of al-Ihsân is Tassawuf ( the Way of Excellence, Sufism) ; it is the school of the spiritual education of the purification of the soul and the heart, that which leads to excellence in religious practice. It is the school which leads to the knowledge of God and the realization of his Uniqueness, and which gives a taste and a soul to the practice of Islam, this path therefore constitutes the living heart of the religion.

We have chosen the teachings of Imam Al-Ghazali because he is one of the Muslim scholars whose authenticity and erudition are unanimous among the scholars of Ahlu As-Sunna . And because the Imam has composed many works on tassawuf , and he is distinguished by a unique method and pedagogy in his books, nourished by his personal experience including his famous spiritual experience.

We want by this booklet to shed light on Sufism, this noble discipline among the Islamic sciences, often neglected by the mass of Muslims, and today abused by the supporters of an unclear rigor.
We then leave it to the reader to discover and judge.
