Born in the burning desert of an isolated Arabia in the middle of the Christian 7th century, Islam made law from the Pyrenees to the borders of China and subjugated almost a quarter of the world's population in the space of just a few decades. A civilization was immediately born. 14 centuries have passed, Empires have risen from the ground, dynasties have shone like no other elsewhere and many caliphs, scholars and conquerors have been able, from Baghdad to Cordoba, to engrave their name in human history.

Having made the link between Antiquity and the modern era, the world of Islam has offered human heritage a story as rich as it is fascinating, but which the general public is still struggling to grasp. Admittedly, large and interesting studies have already been published in France and elsewhere, but the exhaustiveness of the published works and their academic scope have certainly not helped to popularize the genre. The time, and the burning news lend themselves to it, however, as never before. Hence the idea of this book that we wanted to be as complete as it is suitable for neophytes and enthusiasts alike.

Starting from the first verse of the Koran revealed at the abolition of the Caliphate at the beginning of the Christian 20th century, these are 101 great moments which have thus been selected by our care in order to make a picture of Islamic civilization as representative as possible. or happy, the moments retained then all have in common the fact of having more or less marked their contemporaries and more broadly history.
