The Authentic of Prophetic Medicine, by Ibn Al-Qayyim

If Muslims were the precursors of modern medicine it is because of their attachment to the texts of the Koran and the Sunna, and this is what Imam Ash-Shafi'i explains when he says: " Science is of two types: the science of fiqh for religion, and the science of medicine for the body, anything else is assembly discussion ." He also says, "Do not dwell in a country where you do not find a scholar who answers you about your religion, and a doctor who informs you concerning the state of your body .

In Islam, the health of the body is a fundamental necessity in the life of people, this is why the Muslim is called to attach importance to his own health but also to the health of the whole society, this so that the Muslim society remains strong. This can only be achieved through the teachings of the Messenger of Allah (saw) because health includes both the health of the body and the health of the heart, and the only science of the Prophets which is the revelation united these two things perfectly.

The medicine of the is not similar to that of the doctors, because its medicine is certain, formal and divine, it emanates from the prophet Revelation, from prophecy and from the perfection of reason. Whereas the medicine of others, or most of them, is all conjecture , supposition and experience. Prophetic medicine is effective for one who accepts it, believes in healing through it, and receives it with perfect belief and submission. Prophetic medicine is suitable for good bodies, just as the Quran is suitable for good souls and living hearts.
