After the attestation of faith, the four great rites of prayer, fasting, zakat and pilgrimage are the essential pillars or foundations of Islam. Their fulfillment gives rhythm to the life of the Muslim, and together they constitute the cult (al-'ibâdât). But what is their meaning? And how do these rites influence the life of the Muslim and the Muslim society?  

Faith brings serenity, contentment, hope and security. Faith pushes the believer to love God, to love others, to love life and even death. Animating him with an inexhaustible force, it allows him to be constant in the face of trials and to accept his destiny.
