Aymen Souaïd, full name Aymen ibn Roushdi ibn Mouhammed Amin Souaïd, born in 1955 in Damascus, is one of the Islamic religious personalities. Of Syrian nationality, he currently resides and since 1980 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. He is a specialist in the sciences of reading the Koran, Tadjwid, and today represents one of the greatest references in the world in this field.

He is the only son of his parents, his father Roushdi Souaïd died when Aymen was only 14 years old. The last word he said to his son Aymen was "May ALLAH be pleased with you".

Several members of their family were scholars, including his grandfather, Mouhammed Amine Souaïd, who was a scholar in the science of Fiqh and Usul al-Fiqh. He died in 1936.

His beginnings in religious sciences

As a child, he was like all the others his age, he played, he read Mickey, Superman, Tintin magazines... debates between adults. Then at the age of 12, his life changed. Indeed, his teacher at school saw in him a special intelligence and an aptitude for learning out of the ordinary. He offered to accompany him to salat at-tarawih during Ramadan, at the great mosque of Damascus, because the imam who guided the prayer did not read the Koran with the reading of Hafs, the one that everyone has. used to hear, but read with another reading (which contained "al-imâla"). This marked little Aymen Souaïd deeply, and it was there that the love of the Koran entered his heart and he decided to specialize in it.

As a teenager, he attended the "Zayd ibn Thabit al-Ansâri" mosque on "Khalid ibn al-walid" street in Damascus. It was there that he had his first courses in religious sciences, such as an-Na7ou, as-Sarf, al-Balagha, al-Fiqh, the sirah (biography) of the Prophet, the exegesis of the Koran, the sciences hadith, Usul al-Fiqh, etc. …

At the age of 12 he began learning the Koran. He memorized 3 pages a day, and revised with his comrades, 3 to 5 ajza' of the Koran a day. He finished memorizing the Quran at the age of 15. Then he began to study the science of Tajweed.

When he had his baccalaureate diploma, he enrolled at the university in a mechanical and electrical engineering course, and during the same period he met the scholar Abdil3azziz Ouiyoune Assoud who himself resides in Homs. Our future sheikh then began to go back and forth between Damascus and Homs to study with Sheikh Abdil3aziz.

However, these regular trips influenced his studies. He had to make a choice: either continue studying the Koran with Sheikh Abdil3aziz, or continue his studies in automobile engineering. He then decided to interrupt his university course to continue studying the Koran with the sheikh.

His story with the Kaaba

The sheikh entered the Kaaba in Mecca several times. And he read the Quran inside the Kaaba three times. Each time the Quran was read, he would spend around 10 hours in a row to read it all at once inside the Kaaba.

His travels

The Sheikh has traveled to several countries to preach. He went to the United States, to Turkey, as well as to several other countries, and especially to France. Indeed, he had regular visits for several years to the town of Château-Chinon where there is an institute for teaching the Koran and religious sciences.

The direct teaching of the Koran and its sciences. Many students have thus memorized the Koran and have mastered its reading, and have received an idjaza from the sheikh. Several of them have thus been able to work in the field of education in schools, universities and mosques in Saudi Arabia.
