Farid al-Ansari, (in Arabic: فريد الأنصاري), born in 1960 in the province of Errachidia (south-eastern Morocco), he died on Thursday, November 5, 2009 in Istanbul, Turkey, was a Maliki Moroccan scholar and ulema.

Origin:
Farid al-Ansari was born in Morocco in 1960 in Errachidia into a Moroccan Cherifian Arab family whose genealogical line goes back to the Arab tribe of the Banû-Ansârs who emigrated from Yathrib (a city located in western Arabia) to the Maghreb in Algeria and Morocco, this tribe of authentic source is more exactly from Yemen.

Career:
He obtained the Doctorate of State in Islamic Studies, in the specialty Foundations of Jurisprudence (Ussul al-Fiqh). He was president of the branch of Islamic sciences at the faculty of letters of Moulay Ismail University in Meknes. He was president of the scientific court (council of ulema) of the city of Meknes. He was Professor of Foundations of Jurisprudence and Chairman of the Unit: Fatwa, Society and Sharia Objectives in the Department of Graduate Studies at the same university.

He occupied the seat of exegesis - tafsir - as a professor at the Great Mosque of the city of Meknes. Preacher approved by the scientific court in Meknes - Morocco.

He was a member of the World League of Islamic Literature, a founding member of the Institute of Terminological Studies attached to the Faculty of Letters and Human Sciences of the Mohammed Ben Abdellah University of Fez.

He was very modest, humble and kind, far from criticism and controversy. Its aim was to explain, by addressing the hearts, the Koran with simple words, understood by men and women, young and old, literate and illiterate. He was one of a kind (“farid” in Arabic) in his eloquence, his pragmatism and the subjects he dealt with spoke only of the priorities of Islam. A great defender of the Maliki school, he endeavored throughout his life to revalorize Malikiism as well as the Maliki scholars who marked the history of Morocco and the Muslim world in general.

His death:
He died of cancer on Thursday, November 5, 2009 in a hospital in Istanbul while he was away for treatment. His funeral took place on Sunday, November 8, 2009 in the city of Meknes, several thousand people, including the various ulemas of Morocco attended. He is buried in the Zeytouna cemetery in Meknes, the city where he lived.

The King of Morocco Mohammed VI addressed a letter of condolences to the members of the family of the deceased.
