The Muslim version of “Sleeping Beauty” transports readers into the story of Princess Zahra, threatened by Count Lahab due to quarrels with her father, the king. Raised in the safety of the castle under the loving gaze of Sayyida Amina, Zahra becomes a righteous woman.
The story changes with the announcement of Zahra's marriage. Lahab, thirsty for revenge, manages to poison the princess with a cursed hijab pin, plunging her into a deep and uncertain sleep.
Her husband, Adam, undertakes a journey to Makkah to pray and bring back water from Zamzam. Confronted by Lahab and his criminal accomplices, his destiny is tested. This Muslim adaptation of the classic tale explores faith, devotion and love.
