Great Muslim Spirits of the 20th Century, by Muhammad Mukhtar Al-Shinqiti, Héritage Editions

In this work, the author Muhammad Mukhtar Al-Shinqiti presents a certain number of personalities appearing among the most influential Moslem thinkers of the twentieth century, by exposing certain fruits of their thoughts as well as aspects of their lived experience.  The choice fell on seven personalities, among the scholars and Muslim thinkers of the twentieth century, namely: Muhammad Iqbal, Mohammed Abdallah Draz, Malek Bennabi, Ismail Al-Faruqi, Alija Izetbegovic, Muhammad Asad, Muhammad Hamidullah.

This choice was based on three criteria: the assimilation of both Eastern and Western cultures, the association between the mastery of the precepts of religion and the taking of positions in favor of legitimacy and justice as well as the subtle combination between the depth of thought and the radiance of the spirit.

Hopefully this book will help Muslim youth aspiring to take up the torch of Islamic civilization to quickly understand the lives of these luminaries and some of the great ideas they developed. Perhaps this will encourage her to explore on her own other precious ideas that they have bequeathed to us in their works and in the exemplary nature of their lives.
