This small work is the report of a conference given at INSEE on the economy in Islam. He briefly describes the functioning of the Islamic economy and compares it to the capitalist economy of Western countries. It deals with essential issues and several details, clarifications and exceptions have been deliberately omitted. The outlines and elementary principles are enough to describe the essentials and give a clear picture of Islamic economics. It then becomes very easy to understand the shortcomings of the system in which we live and to see that deviating from the divine principles generates endless difficulties.
