This work gives an outline on the history of the tobacco and its harmful effects, and exposes the general and unanimous opinion of the theological schools and the Moslem scholars on the prohibited character of the tobacco.

Be that as it may, the Muslim must face this scourge which destroys both the health and the personality of the believer. We have seen fit to publish a book on the place of tobacco in Islam. Is it classified as a good or bad thing for human beings?
In short, after giving an overview of the history of tobacco and its harmful effects, we have presented the general and unanimous opinion of theological schools and Muslim scholars on the prohibited character (Haram) of tobacco.
We hope to have contributed, through this modest work, to awakening consciences and warning believers of the danger that awaits them every day of their existence.
