This collective work follows the fourth annual congress of researchers on Islam organized by IIIT France in partnership with IISMM - EHESS in June 2005. The Universal and its relationship to identity constitute a field of investigation for all those who are interested in the crises and fragmentation of nation-states, national public spaces and collective identities. Through this work, the various researchers on Islam participating in this work contribute in turn to the debate - according to their fields of specialization. They try to elucidate the question of the relationship between universal and identity and wonder together about the construction of a base on which a future of peace on a planetary scale could be erected.

In this book, there are some themes including:

    • The question of Muslim identity in contemporary literature
    • Universal model, humanism and ethical particularism
    • Secularism and management of religious identity
    • Identity and Citizenship in the European perspective
