The Muslim conquest of Persia is undoubtedly one of the founding epics of Islamic history, one of those major turning points whose echoes resonate through the centuries... For the first time translated into French, the work of the great military historian Agha Ibrahim Akram, an emeritus specialist in the first conquests of the Muslim era, thus retraces the treasures of heroism displayed by these valiant knights of Islam who set knees the legendary empire of the Sassanids in less than a generation and resounded the adhân beyond the most impassable rivers and the most inaccessible mountains...

The Muslim Conquest of Persia, by Agha Ibrahim Akram

The Muslim conquest of Persia is undoubtedly one of the founding epics of Islamic history, one of those major turning points whose echoes echo through the centuries: bringing down one of the greatest empires of all time, the riders emerging from the Arabian desert thus not only opened the gates of Asia to the faith of Muhammad but also integrated into their young civilization a people regenerated by Islam who, among others, were to bring it to its heyday and contribute so much to its cultural, spiritual and scientific influence.

It is also one of the military adventures that commands the most respect and best illustrates the power of the Faith, so unheard of was the imbalance of forces. And yet! After the great founding campaign of Khalid ibn al-Walid, the first Muslim general to dare to challenge – and defeat – the Persian ogre, his fiery lieutenant al-Muthanna ibn Haritha and above all the immense Sa'd ibn Abi Waqqas continued his work until to reach the confines of Central Asia, the Turkish world and the Indies. And at the epic battles of al-Qadisiyyah and Nihawand, one of the two superpowers of this era finally revealed itself as a colossus with feet of clay and was shattered by the sword thrusts of the fearless Qa'qa ibn 'Amr, al -Mughirah ibn Shu'ba, Tuleyha, 'Amr ibn Ma'di Karib or Nu'man ibn Muqarrin.
