Trust in God (at-tawakkul) is one of the conditions for the complete realization of faith in God.

It is the concrete representation of faith, and one of the best expressions of hearts. Imam Ibn al-Qayyim saw in her half of the religion.
He said, "Reliance on God is half of religion, and the other half is returning to God."
This is indeed what the word of God suggests: "It is in Him that I trust and it is to Him that I will return." [Quran 11/88]

This question of considerable importance deserves our full attention because of the confusion which surrounds it in the minds of many people, due to a misunderstanding of the meaning of this expression: to place one's trust in God, to surrender to God (at-tawakkul).

Indeed, they consider that relying on God amounts to rejecting causality and neglecting duties. Now, this would be contrary to the custom instituted by God in the world, since He has linked the effects to the causes; this is what allows us to understand the attitude of the prophets and messengers in the face of events, taking into consideration the causes, lavishing all their efforts to accomplish their duties, then relying for the final result on the omnipotence and to the infinite wisdom of God. This is the true meaning of trust in God...
