The Ways of the Spiritual Journey (التحفة العراقية في الأعمال القلبية), by Ibn Taymiyyah, Al Bayyinah Editions

The figure of Sheikh Al Islam Ibn Taymiyyah is often reduced by some of his followers or his detractors to a rigid formalism and a superficial fiqh. We wanted through this new publication to do justice to this eminent Hanbalite doctor by encouraging the reader to become aware of the extent of his reform work, to make the most of his works and to prevent any misinterpretation.

We also wanted to make Muslims aware of the importance of spirituality and the steps on the path to spiritual awakening. In this perspective, we have translated for our dear readers two epistles of Sheikh Al Islam Ibn Taymiyya on the spiritual journey: the first is an answer to a question on tassawuf, the second deals with the most important acts of the heart, in particular the love, self-dedication to Allah and trust in Him.
