Le Printemps de l'islam - Understanding Spiritual Islam through the life and teachings of the great master Ahmadou Bamba, by Didier Hamoneau El-Hajj Alioune M'Backé

This book is both a biography of the great spiritual master Anmadou Bamba (1853-1927), a presentation of the main lines of his teachings, as well as a study of the influence of the sheikh in Senegal, in the neighboring countries and in the world.

One of the great disciples and son of Sheikh Ahmadou Bamba, Serigne Bachir (Bassirou) Mbacké, wrote about his father: "It was spring and the fertilizing rain, not only for those who solicited his goods, but also for the inhabitants from the neighboring countries, and this alongside the favors and the surplus of Blessing (baraka) that the Lord lavished on men thanks to his prayers. (Minan Al-Bâgaîal-Qadîm: The Benefits of the Eternal). And certainly, this Blessing did not remain confined to Senegal but it overflowed on all the continents of the Earth, via the Senegalese diaspora and beyond. the work of Sheikh Ahmadou Bamba therefore concerns the entire Muslim community (ummah). He did not write for his students (talibés) and Mourides (muridûn) alone, but for all Muslims and for all creatures who could benefit from his teaching and his prayers. He was a Renewer (mujaddid), that is to say a Vivifier and a Restorer of religion.

Nowadays, all countries look to Africa to take advantage of its mineral treasures. But today more than yesterday the world needs more of another kind of African treasure: the treasures of heavenly wisdom, authentically Muslim, conveyed by the life and teachings of men like Sheikh Ahmadou Bamba, who is over- named: Khâdimu ar-Raçül (“the Servant of the Prophet saw”). He effectively embodies this Springtime of spirituality, the Springtime of Islam.
