The permitted and the prohibited in married life

Every use in the life of the Muslim must be confronted with the written standard (is it in accordance with the law?). The collections of Fatwâ illustrate this perfectly. The role of the mufti has always been important and continues to increase with modernity. Through their questions, the faithful reveal their anguish.

The permitted and the prohibited in married life

"Is this act really in accordance with the prescriptions?".

The ways of practicing acts that are not purely cultural are left to the appreciation of each individual. Only, even in these acts which are not purely cultural, Islam advocates principles (obligations, prohibitions, things which are not recommended...) to be respected. This is how in Islam everything becomes sacred. This is why the Prophet (pbuh) told his Companions that intimate relations between spouses are acts rewarded by God. And when they marveled at it, he said to them: "What do you think if one gratified his carnal appetites in an illicit way, would not one be committing a sin? Well! It is the same when one satisfies in a lawful way: one obtains a reward".

We will say that practicing acts which are not purely cultural is left to the appreciation of each individual. Moreover, on the subject of intimate relations, God has explicitly said, in the Koran, that they can be practiced (as you wish) II,223.

What are the various positions to adopt? And what preliminaries to adopt? All this is not specified in the sources of Islam; this is left to the appreciation of each couple, as underlined by Châh Walliyyoullah in Houjjat Allâh Al Bâligha (2, 356-357). The rule is therefore the original permission, provided, of course, that a certain number of principles taught by Islam are respected.
