L’auteur du célèbre mukhtasar est le juriste d’obédience malékite Abû Zayd Al-Akhdarî. Son mukhtasar (l’abrégé), plus connu sous l’appellation de mukhtasar al-Akhdarî, traite essentiellement des règles inhérentes à la prière selon le rite malékite. C’est un ouvrage éminent que l’on étudie dans les pays qui sont d’obédience malékite voire dans les pays où les musulmans sont minoritaires.

The author of the famous mukhtasar is the Maliki jurist Abû Zayd 'Abd Ar-Rahman Ibn Muhammad Al-Akhdari. The author of Shjarat an-Nûr said about him: “He is the jurist, the supreme scholar, the sheikh, the pious, the being of spiritual realization, the perspicacious, the gifted for science. He has his credit of famous writings and memorable prodigies. " Ismâ'îl Bâshâ reports, in his îdâh al-maknûn, according to the author of the ta'rîf al-Khalaf bi-rijâli as-Salaf: "He is a virtuous, ascetic and scrupulous scholar. He is very knowledgeable in both ma'qûl (rational) and manqûl (traditional). His works were very well received by both novices and educated people. His mukhtasar (abbreviated), better known as mukhtasar al-Akhdari, essentially deals with the rules inherent in prayer according to the Maliki rite. It is an eminent work that is studied in countries which are of Maliki obedience or even in countries where Muslims are a minority.
