Title: Faith / Living your spirituality in Islam

    Author: Tariq Ramadan

    Publisher: TAWHID

    Medium: DVD

    Theme: Pillars of FAITH

Description: The question of faith and our relationship to God, Tafsir of sura 112 (Al-Ikhlas) and 109 (Al-Kafirun) and Living one's spirituality, from understanding to practice: Conference by Tariq Ramadan of a duration of 0h37 (part 1) and 0h35 (part 2). Part 1: The issue of faith (tawhid) and our relationship to God The Muslim faith is the main foundation of Islam. Even before he surrounded himself with a strong community, the Prophet Muhammad (PSL) had begun by teaching his first companions, men and women, the truths of the faith. For anyone who wants to understand Islam, knowledge of the Muslim faith is therefore an imperative that cannot be dismissed. There is, beyond things, something, beyond time, an eternity... The supreme ignorance remains for the human being to stick to appearances, to let himself be carried away carelessly by the current which drags him on, to plunge into an unconscious sleep from which death quickly drags him out. To be a Muslim is precisely to be aware of the truths that escape our perception and go beyond the framework of what it is given to us to conceive materially. What distinguishes man from the rest of animal creatures is that the latter seem to be guided only by blind instinct, that they have no other goal than the satisfaction of their momentary desires. On the contrary, man is asked to reflect on the purpose of his actions, and to go beyond this stage by becoming aware of his relationship to God. Faith allows him precisely to free himself from the opacity of the universe and unconscious automatisms, to rediscover the spiritual light which alone gives him his dignity as a human being. Part 2: Living your spirituality in Islam Islamic spirituality commits man to live in harmony, taking into account all the elements of his humanity. To live without forgetting death, to meditate without neglecting the action of good and justice, to know oneself alone and to live among men, to nourish one's spirit as one nourishes one's body and to remain demanding in the search for balance. To be linked to values is to go beyond reductive individualism, the love of goods and money and the expression of a sexuality limited to “Pleasure”, a new god imposing a new cult. Monotheism and the Koranic reference - foundations of Islamic civilization today give a particular energy to Muslim spirituality: it prefers faith to oblivion, being to having, purpose to means, solidarity to individualism, quality over quantity.
