When we talk about the Arab renaissance project, we mean an integral, global project aimed at economic, social, political and cultural renaissance. As thought in the 19th century and a subject of reflection in the 20th, it is summed up in an aspiration for unity and development, or even for union and progress.
When considering the thought of the Arab renaissance, it splits into two currents. The first favors unity as a condition for development, while the second maintains that the primary mission consists of achieving progress in all areas. The relationship of the Arab project with European modernity, the project of the Socialist International, and international Zionism have always influenced its two aspects: unity and progress.
