The Book of Talib al'ilm - The Student of Religious Studies - Vol.4:
The uniqueness of Allah (Haza Wajal), whose sole affirmation constitutes the profession of faith (shahada), testimony by which the individual becomes a Muslim, means first of all the negation of any form of polytheism: One by His Essence and Unique in His Attributes.
Since Allah is One, without any partner, in His Essence and His Attributes, without any substitute, without any partner of His Actions.
And since those who proclaim the divine Oneness (Muwahidin) have recognized that he is such, their knowledge is called Oneness.
