Many are those who, in the contemporary world, wish to understand what Islam is in its foundations and to have keys to reading concerning the Koran and the prophetic Tradition. It is precisely to meet such expectations that the author has written this book. With pedagogy and a spirit of synthesis, Seyyed Hossein Nasr allows the reader to grasp the language and the message of the last branch of Abrahamic monotheism. The comparison of Islam with the other major religions – which SH Nasr knows admirably – sheds additional and salutary light on our time.
