Following the path of the ancients among the pious predecessors is essential to be able to apply the religion as it was revealed to the Messenger of Allah.
Indeed, the Koran and the Sunnah are full of texts along these lines. The Messenger of Allah (pbuh) said: “Cling to my Sunnah and the Sunnah of the righteous and rightly guided caliphs after me. » He (as) also said: “Follow the path of those two people after me, Abu Bakr and 'Umar. »
The noblest of the companions are undoubtedly the four caliphs. Ibn 'Umar reports: “We used to say, during the Prophet's lifetime, who are the best companions. We said Abu Bakr is the best then 'Umar ibn l-Khattâb then 'Othmân ibn 'Affân. » The Prophet heard this without contradicting it, which shows his approval.
The Muslim community is unanimous in recognizing the merit of the four caliphs. The order of caliphates refers to the order of merit of the caliphs. If they are the best men after the Prophets and Messengers then it is appropriate to know who they are and what they accomplished during their lives.
