Excerpt from “Albidâya wa Annihâya” by Imam 'Imâd Eddine Ismail Ibn Omar Ibn Kathir
This book is an extract from Ibn Kathir's famous work "Albidâya wa Annihâya", which is a vast historical fresco composed of twenty-one parts which traces the history of humanity from creation to the time of our historian.
Ibn Kathir based his work on the most official and reliable sources of Muslim tradition. Indeed, after the traditional Sahih (authentic collections of hadiths) and sounen, he referred to all the works which were composed by the Muslim scholars and historians who preceded him. Ibn Kathir left numerous works, including this famous fresco where we have extracted this book on the four rightly guided caliphs. He died in seven hundred and seventy-four AH.
