Attarghib Wattarhib according to Shaykh Al-Mundhiri:

The book attarghib wattarhib is a collection of hadiths with a double educational objective. The first is to inspire the desire attargîb to perform pious works, to adorn oneself with noble morals and to conform to the prophetic way by showing what religion has provided for this kind of work as rewards in this world and in the afterlife. The second is to inspire attarhib fear of departing from the way of Allah, of neglecting His rights and the rights of His servants and of committing evil by showing what the sinner incurs as curse, misfortune and divine punishment. . To give you, dear readers, an overall idea of this book, we have chosen what has been said about it and its scientific and educational value by an eminent scholar who, as he said himself, really suffered in his verification of his hadiths namely Shaykh Nasir Ad-Din Al-Albani. Here is the translation of his remarks: "It does not escape any scholar that the book attarghîb wattarhîb of Hafiz Zakiyyu Ad-Din 'Abd Al-Azim b. 'Abd Al-Qawî Al-Mundhirî is the most complete book and the most instructive in his genre. He gathered there all or almost all the hadîths having for object the targhib or the tarhîb which one finds dispersed in the six books [the sahih Al-Bukhari and of Muslim and the collections known as sunan of Abu Dawûd , At-Tirmidhi, An-Nasa'i and Ibn Maja] as well as other collections.
