The laurel of Koranic exegesis that we present here is a work of synthesis of the main Arabic commentaries on the Koran. For this, we used a panel of nine classic works, among the most famous in Islam. In this case the commentaries of the Koran of At-Tabarî, Al-Qurtubî, Ibn Kathîr, Al-Baghawî, Al Baydawî, Al Mâwardî, Ar-Râzî, Al-Fayrûz Abâdî, Al-Jalâlayn. And, for contemporary authors, those of Ibn 'Âshur, Al-Allûsî, As-Sabûni and Az-Zuhaylî . These commentaries are very complete works. Exegesis is covered in all its aspects: etymology of words, grammatical syntax, reliability of hadiths, differences of opinion, of reading, etc.
If the French translations of the Koran are very numerous, the complete commentaries of the Koran in French language are very rare. To my knowledge, there exists to date only one unfinished translation of the commentary of At-Tabari, a translation of that of Ibn Kathîr and one of the Tafsir Al-Jalâlayn. In the other works, only a few suras have been commented on or brief annotations introduced in certain translations.

These commentaries are very complete works. Exegesis is covered in all its aspects: etymology of words, grammatical syntax, reliability of hadiths, differences of opinion, of reading, etc. Since the French-speaking reader is not always experienced in the practice of these disciplines, we have retained from these comments only what is useful for understanding the meaning of the verses, hence the diversity of authors. The simple translation of these comments not always being sufficient, they will sometimes be accompanied by notes intended to draw the reader's attention to a specific point. These notes do not belong to the consulted comments. They are personal reflections independent of the comments delivered by the exegetes to whom we have referred. In order to differentiate them, each will be accompanied by the mention: "Translator's note [Ndt]"
Regarding the translation of the Arabic text of the verses of the Koran, we would like to specify that it is a literal translation, "word for word", made necessary for the purposes of the commentary.
