هذا الكتاب هو شرح موجز للنظم المعروف باسم "القانون فيما خالف فيه حفص قالون"، وقد تم جمعه وإعداده من طرف محمد عبد الله الشنقيطي. القانون هو مقياس كل شيء ، والماعون هو المعروف وكل ما ينتفع به، أو كل ما يستعار به للإنتفاع. فمناسبة إسم النظم لمضمونه واضحة وكذلك الشرح ، فالنظم قانون ومقياس و ضابط لمعرفة حفص عن عاصم وذلك لكل من يتقن رواية قالون عن نافع وأما الشرح فهو كالألة التي يستعان بها لتحصيل المطلوب من النظم. يتناول الكتاب شرح وتوضيح المعاني والأهداف الخاصة بهذا النظم، وقد تركز بشكل أساسي على الأصولِ والقواعد الكلية المطَّرِدةُ مثل ميم الجمع، والفتح، والإمالة، وأحكام المد والوقف والإدغام وما شابه ذلك. كما يقارن بين الاتفاق والاختلاف بين نظام حفص ونظام قالون في هذه القواعد. ويشمل الكتاب أيضًا الفرش لمطَّرِدَ المتكرر في القرآن ثلاثَ مرّاتٍ فأكثرَ، و أيضا الفَرشُ غيرُ المطَّردِ مرتَّباً على السُّوَرِ منَ الفاتحةِ إلى الناس.
