As this is a general knowledge dictionary, we have excluded terms and meanings deemed rare or technical, but we have included a number of them in the illustrations. On the other hand, we have developed the terms or meanings of frequent use, without neglecting those which, even technical ones, are part of the intellectual baggage of an educated Arabic speaker.
We have endeavored to translate both accurately and in a practical way, avoiding approximations and theoretical translations that are difficult to use. We submitted our translation to the criterion of example, because only the example can show the accuracy of the translation and its practicality, as well as , alone, it points to the word you are looking for.
and we have endeavored to render Gallicisms and figurative meanings, not by explanatory sentences, but, when we have been able to find them, by equivalent Arabicisms and figurative meanings.
