Throughout the ages, the observation of degradation is often expressed, even by the Prophet (pbuh). Despite this, individuals of integrity persist in working to reform society. Our era, marked by postmodernity, is undergoing changes that are often ignored. The author emphasizes that modernity, breaking with tradition, has robbed humanity of a higher goal. This second volume offers an enriching perspective on contemporary debates, demonstrating the relevance of Islamic ideas."
Author: Thomas Sibille, Héritage éditions
In each era we tend to say that the one that preceded us was better, that the world is going badly or that the end is near.
The Prophet (pbuh) himself informed us that each generation that comes is worse than the previous one (AI Boukhäri), which does not prevent the fact that, in each era, upright and honest people are active in participating in the reform of their fellow citizens and the improvement of the society in which they live.
Our time, however, has one particularity. After the destruction of the traditional order, our world is in a state of complete change; he takes the path of postmodernity without anyone or almost anyone worrying about it or without anyone wondering about this world and its future. The rare people who are attentive to these changes have questions that still remain superficial and do not fundamentally question the origin of the crises we are going through. Modernity, which by nature poses itself as a break with tradition, generates a system of thought which instills in the individual the desire to conquer his autonomy, which therefore pushes him to overturn the visions of the traditional world by making human reason the norm of all things. In a permanent dynamic of destruction and rupture, this modernity has, in a certain way, stripped our existence of higher goals.
This modest writing, which is in line with the first volume, seeks to show that Islam not only has its say in the debates that animate society, but that, even more, its proposals are worthy of interest. and therefore deserve to be taken into consideration.
