Why is France, which has all the legal and institutional capacities, all the necessary human resources, delaying in implementing a French-style, competitive and dynamic Islamic finance, which would be a formidable driving force for our financial industry and for our entire economy? Why do persistent paradoxes prevent us from thinking, in France, of Islamic finance as a national opportunity more than as a threat? Why does the French financial and banking system still not offer Muslims in France, who constitute the largest Islamic community in the Western world, access to a range of alternative products and services in tune with their religious sensibilities, who would also be likely to provide all French people with a dynamic and ethical response to their financial, credit and investment problems?
