Describing the method he followed in composing his book, Sheikh Abu Bakr Al-Jazâ'irî - may he have mercy on him - said:
“I have followed, with God's assistance, the right way.
Thus in the chapters relating to dogma, I have not deviated from the precepts of the Ancients which have the unanimous approval of the Community.
Whoever adopts this dogma is sure to obtain salvation, because it is the dogma to which the Prophet (salallahou alayhi wa salam) adhered, as well as his Companions and their successors.
This dogma is also in line with the primordial nature and the pure religion brought by all the Prophets and for which the Books were revealed.
In the part reserved for jurisprudence - religious practices and social relations, I have done my best to seek the fairest and most valid opinion in the works of the illustrious imams (Abû Hanîfa, Mâlik, Ash-Shâfi'î and Ahmad, may God have mercy on them) whenever it was a question that was not based on an explicit text or on a manifest argument in the Book of God and in the Sunnah of His Messenger .
Thus, any Muslim who follows the teachings set forth in this book is, without a doubt, sure of conforming to divine law.
My purpose is to unite in a single way, our brothers so that they constitute a unity where their ideas agree, their souls commune, and their feelings interact.
