حكم ومناجاة Hikam wa Munajât , by Ibn'Atâ Allah , translated by Hassan Boutaleb, Spiritual Heritage Collection, Al Bouraq Editions
Wisdom and confidences (Hikam wa Munâjât), an essential work in Sufism, is therefore the fruit of an initiation and an experience. Ibn 'Ata'Allah offers here all the depth and essentials of a spiritual quest. He thus spreads before our eyes the wings of his spirit and then springs from it timeless maxims, which serve and will serve any person aspiring to a surge towards the Divine. This work enriched in part by the comments of ibn 'Ajîba leads us to reflect on what a true return to ourselves could be.

More than a simple book, "Wisdoms and Confidences" is a breath of fresh air and the secret of these aphorisms is undoubtedly also to be found in the charism of their author, always ready to listen to the Word of God and put it into practice. A marvelous meeting of the Sharî'a (Law) and the Haqîqa (the truth) on the Tarîqa (the way) took place in him. Three fundamental concepts intrinsic to Islamic spirituality.
This work, enriched in part by the comments of ibn 'Ajîba (d. 1809) - leads us to reflect on what a true return to ourselves could be. As such, we can cite here this enlightening wisdom which attests so precisely: "What veils God from you is His extreme closeness to you", and which could very naturally be mirrored with the precious saying of the Prophet Muhammad (saw): "He who knows himself, knows his Lord."
