Professor At-Tahtâwî had the idea of extracting from the eminent book al-wabil as-sayyib , by Ibn Qayyim , the part which concerns the teachings of dhikr and its fruits, and to make a book of it that he enamelled with very interesting explanatory notes. It is the translation of this part that we present here.

The dhikr is the spiritual abode of people of faith. It is from this house that they get their supplies. It is her that they frequent assiduously
The dhikr is the diploma of Friendship with Allah; whoever receives it is admitted and whoever does not receive it is rejected. it is food for the hearts of people of faith; if they part with them, their bodies will be like tombs to them.
The dhikr is the remedy for the evils of the hearts; without him, hearts relapse.
The dhikr is the solid ladder that leads to Allah and the bond that exists between the servant and his Lord.
Through dhikr , the servant repels calamities, frees himself from distressing situations and endures misfortunes.
The dhikr is the garden in which the believer walks and the immense capital of his happiness that he invests.
Dhikr makes the heart sad, happy and smiling...
As we know, one of the scholars who spoke perfectly about dhikr is the scholar Ibn Al-Qayyim Al-Jawziyya , especially in his eminent book al-wâbil as-sayyib (Abundant rain ) .
