God or chance? We must choose, by Abdelkhaled Abdelkrim
Everything happens in the universe as if it were governed by a thought emanating from a powerfully intelligent being. Throughout the book there is talk of final causes. The question of finality arises as much with regard to the particles of matter as that of living cells and of man endowed with sensitivity. How could the world have been organized with such perfection? And the laws which express in such a rigorous and mathematical way the relations of all the elements, where do they come from? From chance or from a cause which willed this order, which established these laws? At each step, we will see all the actions of nature tending towards an end. We will see marvelous operations unfold in beings devoid of intelligence which surpass and defy the genius of man. We will see the ''human machine'' with all the elements that make it up working in the most subtle harmony. All the means contribute to an end and preserve being by tending to perfect it without respite and, in the presence of this universal order, we will be constantly led to ask ourselves the same question: How could the world have organize with such perfection.
